He's been with us 9 months now and is very slowly getting comfortable. He's so not a lap cat but has been getting into ds lap and then jumping off. He's been busy baking biscuits in the morning and today he made them on dd lap and she was delighted.
He's been wary of us for a long time but seems to be more accepting of us now. His former enemy from next door now seems to be his best friend and they meet every evening to play on the front drive. I love watching them together via the ring doorbell.
Despite not liking being picked up or touched much (pets allowed only when he is in the mood), he enjoys being groomed and I love doing it. I can't believe I was terrified of cats before getting him. We get lots of head bumps and he sometimes walks up to me and sits in front of me almost inviting me to stroke him. He's loving his dreamies and licky licks a lot, but can be fussy with food, glaring into his bowl to see if the offerings meet his exacting standards. He still spends time hiding under his favourite outdoor bush but I leave him to it now and don't worry about him. I'm still taking him on walks and feel sad when he flinches everyone someone walks past him and how terrified he is of cars and dogs. His favourite thing is to lie by the fire, or near/ on my feet, then moan and move when it gets too hot. He is also slowly learning to play, I don't think he's ever played and seemed scared of every toy I bought him but he's more engaged now and loves to play for very short bursts. He is very vocal when he wants to be let in/out of a room and he now loves his cat flap.
We all adore him. I long for him to sit in my lap, or cuddle me or be more needy but don't know if that will happen. I'd love another cat but I'm worried it'll upset him. He didn't eat for 2 days last week when a massive cat walked through our garden, he was terrified and ran in. He also still scratching my furniture so I do need to try and stop that. He's been sniffing around his cat tree so maybe he'll finally use it. He's brought so much joy to us all and even dc who are away at uni phone more regularly now as they want to see him and chat to him (he's his usual cba self when they call!).
