If my cat is in my room with the door closed (me in there too), she will claw the carpet because she knows it will make me get up to open the door.

If Basil or Sybil want to get out of the living room when the door is closed, (and we haven't leapt out of our seats with the speed of a gazelle to open it for them already), they jump on the back of one of the seats so they start pawing at a picture, threatening to pull it off the wall.
Basil atarted this, Subil learned from him after about a month.
This is VERY effective at getting our attention.
Manipulative little furry fuckers Grin.

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/03/2022 08:45

The Bengal would look me straight in the eye and claw the side of the bed, when I got up to stop him he’d jump onto my warm spot and immediately feign sleep.

It’s embarrassing how often I fell for it before realising.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 13/03/2022 08:49

Apologies. I've just re-read my post and it's full of typos and appalling gammar. Barely English but I hope still vaguely comprehensible. Grin

Soubriquet · 13/03/2022 08:54

Toots knows that what dd finishes school, it’s dinner time.

So she stands on top of the landing and yowls loudly until dd bucks her arse up and feeds her

My cat will go to a door that she is perfectly able to open and sometimes decide she wants it opening for her. It then becomes a battle of wits. She will yowl annoyingly for a minute. We have a stand off, then she will start to claw the wood alongside the door. I then get up and open the door to her desired angle. She will also do something similar at the outside door on days she just doesn't feel like using a cat flap.

My elderly nearly deaf and blind feline boss still can shout very loud.
The whole house including his dog are at his beck and call.
At Christmas when family were about he still held the top spot.

Scabetty · 13/03/2022 11:02

Purdy death stares into your eyes but Lola claws the new sofa arms which makes me move Angry

Finfintytint · 13/03/2022 11:05

When my kitty feels peckish she will systematically pull tissues from the box, one by one, staring at me until I comply with her wishes.

RandomMess · 13/03/2022 11:06

WFH has been excellent Hmm she just sits in front of the monitor and harassed me until she gets her treat food!

Evenings we get the death stare at 9pm for her bedtime supper.

334bu · 13/03/2022 11:19

Lying in bed this morning cat starts meowing in my ear and poking me in the head. Get up to open cat flap, only to see him settle down to sleep on my bit of the bed. Totally king of the castle.

TibetanTerrah · 13/03/2022 11:23

DM's won't drink from her bowl. Instead she sits in the bath and waits quietly, patiently, and indefinitely. DM then takes a jug, fills it with water and puts it in the bath for her Hmm

DidgeDoolittle · 13/03/2022 11:35

Didge cat is a greedy sod. Ignoring him is not an option. He will sit in front of the tv until he gets what he wants. If you put him out he yowls at nuclear levels whilst knocking on the door with his paw.
When I make a cup of tea last thing at night, he has a few Dreamies. If you dare to forget he will sit on the shelf by the door and hit you as you walk past.

RandomMess · 13/03/2022 11:37

Ours always screams blue murder until all the bedroom doors are opened in the morning, think she's liked to do a head count of who is available for slave duty!

iklboo · 13/03/2022 11:43

Mine shake me awake. They put their paws on my arm and literally shake me. If that doesn't work the tuxedo stands on my back & yells in my ear. His brother has previously put his paw in my mouth!

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 13/03/2022 11:46

Fat cat likes to stand outside DDs door when I go to bed. If I don't open it immediately so she can snuggle with DD she will scratch at the door relentlessly.

Old man cat lays on DDs bed looking forlorn until I turn on the heated mattress cover to warm him up.

WhatsitWiggle · 13/03/2022 11:54

Ours likes to be in DDs room, but DD usually wears headphones so can't hear cat miaowing/scratching to be let in. Cat has learnt not to even bother and if DDs door is closed, cat will scratch at mine, wait for me to open it then trot off to DDs door and look back at me. Like a fool I open it for her!

YesItsMeIDontCare · 13/03/2022 11:58

Leroy has a little "mrrp" noise and stands to put his front paws on my thigh.

I'll give him whatever he wants when he does that 🥰

Yes I am a complete mug.

GatoradeMeBitch · 13/03/2022 12:36

She has me trained in all ways except one. She really wants to have the central pillow position in my bed. She installs herself there while I'm in the bathroom and is always furious to be moved. But she's made sure I know exactly where and how she wants her meals, she wakes me up at weekday time on the weekends.

Quite often we play this guessing game where she makes me get up and follow her, then we make stops at all her fave spots. Food and water bowls - all good. Treat area - no, doesn't feel like treats right now. Toybox - doesn't fancy playing. Back door - no doesn't want to go out. Scratch post - yes, watch me scratch my scratch post! Back door again... She can't do this by herself, she needs me to follow along while she decides what she wants to do. It's shameful really! DS calls me her personal assistant.

Toddlerteaplease · 13/03/2022 12:57

Cheddar site on the stairs and yowls until I take her up to bed. It took me ages to work that one out. Magic looks me in the eye and scratches the sofa when she wants to jump up
On it.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 13/03/2022 13:21

I hear mine coming...

HMPH!
HRRRRRMPHHHH!
HRRRRRRRRRMMMMMMMPPPHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

... until he is right below my desk. He jumps up, tries to walk on my keyboard, chew the computer cord, push pens off the desk and chew my glasses until I act. If I gently push him floorwards he jumps up again. If I lock him out he hrrrrmmmphs at the door until I give in and open it. Sometimes he finds his mechanical fish and activates it, all the time staring at me until I give in and give him what he wants (usually food).

PerrinAybara · 13/03/2022 13:32

Ours sit by the front door and meow until someone gets up to let them out. They have a perfectly functional catflap. But prefer to have their servant open the front door instead. And we comply.

Dotdotdotdashdashdashdotdotdot · 13/03/2022 13:36

Mine likes to sleep on my tummy at night. I’m a natural side sleeper.
Halfway through the night hops onto my shoulder and purrs loudly until I roll over so she can settle down.
If I try to ignore her she claws at me and chirrups until I do as she wants.

Babdoc · 13/03/2022 13:42

My Madam will stand by her food cupboard and rap imperiously on its door with her paw until I open it and dish out some Dreamies.
If I’m watching tv or on my laptop, and not responding to demands, she will nip out her catflap to the garden and rear up against the glass doors, miaowing loudly to be let in. As soon as I rise from the sofa to do so, she rushes in and herds me straight to her cupboard!
