Blood in urine

My three year old cat tried to pee in my towels yesterday I went from shouting on no! To why can't you pee properly in a few seconds flat it looked orange and was only a few drops so I whisked him to the vets she squeezed him all over told me he was too fat (he is) and as an indoor cat in a multicat household he was high risk for uti gave him an injection some metacam and a kit to collect his urine I dropped it off today it was really orange and only a small amount they have had an emergency in now so might not be calling me till Monday! But the receptionist did say it looks like the vet needs to send it off? How serious is this I thought it was a UTI diet changes and maybe antibiotics? What if there is something really wrong with my cat? He is acting perfectly fine just extra trips to the litter tray I thought he was fine!

I'm really upset he might not be ok

A few questions
Is he going to his tray more often that normal ?
And revisiting soon after going ?
Is he peeing in the wrong place ( other than this once ) ?
if you can normally rub his tummy can you still do this ?
Does he get on with your other cats ok
Has anyone / thing come into the house that he is not use to ?

My cat very suddenly started having problems . he kept on revisiting and seem to be straining when he did go ( he is a indoor cat to )

I took him to the vets and the poor little buggers bladder was 3x as big as it should of been , after many visits , catheters, a over night and a week long stay at the vets crystals / kidney stones / infection were all ruled out it seems that he was stressed.

As far as we could tell the only time there was any blood ( very small amount ) in his pee was when his bladder was very full so he must of been straining a lot

It has taken months of medication and lots of to'ing and fro'ing to the vets ( and a huge bill ) but he is now on the road to recovery .

he was on the following meds
Hypovase
Dantium
Gabapentin
preds
clavaseptin

he is just on the Calvaseptin and Preds now and will be for about another month .
I also give him Hills urinary good heath food and cystease .

This is the thread I started about him , you may find some useful info on there

He is visiting the tray quite often and revisiting little pees everytime his bladder was small when she squeezed it yesterday he is still happy for me to give him pets and squishes around his lower half apart from that one time he hasn't peed anywhere that he hasn't done before (they like to try to pee under the stairs but that's been a three year argument tbh)

Nothing has really changed in the house except his brother has got a bit stressed and began throwing big paws around more than normal

I've put white cat litter in his tray now and it doesn't look like there is blood in his urine anymore he isnt particularly straining just doing tiny wees

He only eats dry food hates the wet he will only have half a lik e lix will not be tempted by jelly food gravy mouse even chicken or fish Nothing but cat biscuits

I've started him on some urine cat biscuits I'm trying some paste his brother loves it him not so much 😞

If it is stress this may help ,
www.feliway.com/uk

I did not try it with my cat as he was on so many dif meds I did not want to the confusion as to what would / would not help him .

Mine is a fussy bugger when it comes to eating to , he prefers biscuits though to be fair he will eat most brands but he will only eat the jelly off meat Sheba and if he feels like slumming it felix . he doesn't like cat treats and wont eat any human food ,

fortunately like yours he does like lick-e-lix so he gets a tiny bit of that once he has had his meds .

Have him and his brother had the snip ?
If his brother is getting stroppy can you separate them for a few days to see if that helps?

Theunamedcat · 06/03/2022 14:31

All three of them have been snipped I think his brother getting his murder mitts out is because he doesn't "smell right" iyswim this morning he sniffed ash hissed and went to smack him I've got cat calm treats fealiway and the physical feliway spray the valerian is on its way from amazon along with cystease? Ash cat is currently off his tits on metacam next to me poor sod I'm hoping it is just a case of putting him on a diet because he is 7kg

His pee seems to be pale not pink now but he is still little and often till he has emptied out
