We just got home and were approached by a very friendly cat. So friendly it tried to get in my house.

Now, I already have 4 cats and I know all the cats in the street as I am the crazy cat lady. I'd never seem this cat before and it was incredibly affectionate and a bit thin so I drunkenly decided it must be lost and left it some food which it attacked like it was starving.

I'm now feeling very guilty as it is starting to freeze here so I have put a box with a blanket in it in the greenhouse with some more food. We're away this weekend and if it's still around on Monday I will take it to the vets to see if it is chipped.

Should I do more? Or less? Am I drunkenly worried about nothing? Is it wrong I have already named it? Have I just met my new cat?

Current cats are pissed off, they know I have betrayed them.

My cat has been missing since November, if it was him that had turned up at your house I would be really grateful you were looking after him!
You've left him food & provided shelter, yes get him scanned on Monday you're doing the right thing!

Sounds lost to me and not able to fend for itself.

Your an experienced owner so you know the difference between starving & enthusiastic eater.

Poor thing
Maybe the reason you haven't seen him about is his folks have moved to the area, he's got out and got stuck somewhere like a shed ?

Your cats will be mightily hacked off , you fussing over some interloper and giving him their dinner !

Can you put am Is This Your Cat post up on your local facebook/WhatsApp , vague description, you need to make sure someone won't just pick him up.
Look on local Vet websites and Lost /Found
Get some photos especially if he's got sistinctive marks , He could be someone's long lost pet .

You are absolutely doing the right thing. Take care of him as well as you can until you can get him chip checked.

Did you manage to take him to the vets OP? You sound kind and caring to me Smile

CornedBeef451 · 07/03/2022 21:22

No news I'm afraid. The food I left out for him had been eaten but that could have been my greedy cats and no sign of the bed being used.

I haven't seen him since but I'll keep looking. I think my cats might have scared him off.

Hope he's found his way home but thanks for the advice after my drunken cat ramblings!
