Puss cat has stopped eating

Rehomed a 4 year old male stray from the RSPCA back in September. He has always had a fine appetite. He used to eat Whiskas cat food. I then had him eating Aldi cat food. He then refused to eat Aldi cat food and would only eat Whiskas.

I have been giving him Whiskas pouches ever since. However, today he won't even eat those. I went and bought some Felix pouches and he won't eat these either.

I tested him with a few Dreamies and he will eat these with gusto, so it's not like he can't chew or swallow.

What do you think is happening and what should I do next?

Maybe try him on something a bit better than those as neither felix or whiskas is that good quality and ime I’ve had cats vomiting on both which has improved when changing food. So possibly its S upsetting his tummy a bit?

I’ve got a fussy cat who has been on dried Arden grange for years but just stopped eating that so currently on sheba pouches.

Could it be his teeth? Our cat started not finishing all her food, but still begging for treats over a few days, then one day walked off without eating her breakfast and refused Dreamies. Otherwise absolutely fine in herself but we rang the vet straight away! It turned out she had yucky gum disease and needed teeth extracted. We got painkillers for her for a few days before the teeth were removed, and afterwards had to give her cat mouthwash which was quite an adventure for all involved. (It was also not covered by insurance and cost a small fortune.)

She must have been four then actually.

I would definitely take my cats to the vet if they weren't eating.

One of ours stops eating if she's working on a fur ball. Couple of days and a hearty puke and she's back to normal.

Yes we do regular hairball treatments now after the bear threw up badly with one to the degree he threw up blood
