New kitten on his way!!

After months of waiting for the tight timing and the right kitten, we have this gorgeous little man coming in an hour! I've had cats before but not for years and years, it's suddenly occurred to me I have totally forgotten how kittens work

I have all the kit (pardon the pun) and everything ready, but in terms of first day, week etc, any top tips?

The kitten knows what to do so be led by him. He’s a beautiful little chap.

Ooh, he looks just like my beautiful black boy at that age!

I would suggest kitten-proofing as much as you can - blocking off any small spaces so you are not hauling out your washing machine or poking up the chimney to find your kitten.

If you value your curtains you might want to think about replacing them with old ones if he proves to be a curtain climber.

It's usually best to start by confining the kitten to one room, and gradually opening up the house to them.

If by any chance he hides away, leave him to come out in his own time.

Don't worry if he doesn't poo or wee for a couple of days - they will hold it in until they've decided they like your house enough to stay!

Make sure you have the same litter and food he is on to begin with.

If he'll be leaving his mum for the first time, something with her scent on will be comforting.

Another little black kitty on the litter tray - sweet. He looks like a confident little chap!

He will grow up into a ginormous cuddle-monster for sure!

He is so happy and settled already. Plates for ages with two excited kids before settling in my lap for hours.

His name is Loki, the cat of mischief. And he likes distracting me when I try to work!

Oh, yes, they love to walk all over your laptop when you are trying to work - or meow loudly when you're on a conference call!

He is gorgeous and Well Done being selected by a Black Cat ( you do know you didn't choose him, right ? )

Our 2 are jet black siblings , she likes to "help" DH when he's WFH by photobombing his zoom calls , lounging in front of the keyboard and giving him encouraging little pats to the face (with claws)
MaleCat added some CatArt ( paws prints) to my very new beige sofa

Loki is beautiful and I bet he's as light as thistledown .
