Feeding two cats differently

We have two 12yr old indoor cats (sisters). They came to us at a good age and had never been outside. Always fed them dry food to graze on and half a pouch of wet every evening. All was well, good weight etc. Dcat1 has been really unwell of late though, and before Christmas needed meds in her food morning and evening. I changed to feeding them half a pouch morning and evening and reduced the dry food. DCat1 is putting on the weight she lost, all good. But DCat2 is noticeably getting fat! She's also complaining loudly every morning that I haven't got her breakfast yet!

I need to keep DC1 well fed but ideally want to go back to wet food once a day. It's also much easier with cat sitters if we go away. Suggestions welcomed! Only DCat one is chipped, in case microchip feeders are a possible solution.

As DC1 is chipped, a microchip feeder would work, leave the rest open as the other cat is to be given less food. We used one when 1 cat had meds on her food & the other wasn't to touch the medication

You could just get a microchip feeder for DCat1, that allows you to restrict what DCat 2 is eating and when.

I would urge you to get DCat 2 chipped anyway though.

Get the second cat chipped and just use chipped feeders.

She went a bit crazy on the vet when they tried, was really anxious at the time. I never pushed it as they don't go out. Can I put wet food in a chip feeder? Is there any food that is halfway between wet and dry?

Thanks for all responses!

Yes, you can put any food you want into a chipped feeder.

My cats don't go out either but they're all chipped and I am so glad of it as one slipped out of the back door during storm Arwen last year and went missing for three days.

I would make an effort to get her chipped even if she does find it stressful. Ours did it when all our cats got neutered/spayed.

Our chipped feeder had 2 sections so we put wet in one and dry in the other. You could also put an ice pack below them to keep the food cool
