It's all catnip the same?

Are the hard balls different to loose catnip?

MrCat use to go slobberingly bonkers over a toy filled with loose catnip. When the nip seemed to have lost its potency I got him a toy with hard replaceable balls of compressed catnip. But it doesn't seem to do anything for him.

I was going to say I didn't know about types, but different toys definitely have different effects.

The cosmic banana I got for DC at Christmas after recommendations on here was popular.

I gather that it can depend on both the format e.g. fresh, dried, compressed, and where it's come from. Many plants grow better in some regions than others, and also different colonies can have more or less of the essential product.

Think cannabis!

Someone bought our cat a ‘cigar’ which a think was quite expensive and our cat couldn’t get enough of it, it appeared to be very strong and it lasted over a year.

I've got a cat mint plant in the garden. I've seen local moggies furtively rubbing their chops on it or having a sly munch.

My cat has a fish and a squirrel I can replace their innards with fresh dried catnip from Pets at Home.
