Wounded cat pad - advice needed!

Hi, hoping someone can offer advise as I can't get hold of the vet until tomorrow morning.

On Tuesday I took my cat to the vet as he was limping and it was clear he was in pain (not eating, felt hot, lethargic). Vet prescribed pain killers and antibiotic injection and said it was an infected cat bite on his paw. We were going away Wednesday night until today, we had cat sitters in. He perked up and was eating but still not putting weight on the pad. Vet said he was confident he would be ok.

I've come back this afternoon. Leo is still limping and won't put the paw on the ground. He is acting ok, eating and very vocal. We have examined it and the pad it oozing and bleeding a little. We've cleaned with warm salt water but it didn't look very good.

Anything else I should do tonight? I'm going to ring the vet for advise in the morning.

I'm keeping him indoors too to avoid it getting dirty.

I had similar years ago with my mothers cat who I had. She had a stone in her large pad. I removed it and there was a hole. There was no pus though. I bathed it with salt and water 2 or 3 times a day and after a week it was much better. I was a bit naughty though and put a dab of sudocrem in the hole.

You’ve done all you can. They always get sick when your about to go away. It’s a cat law.
