Why is she not using her litter tray?!?!

Not so darling cat has recently decided that she can't possibly poo in a box! Any ideas why? She has used it fine for the last 3.5years but now she prefers the floor. She is fine in other aspects, no other changes to warrant a trip to the vets, the litter tray was fresh last night before bed. I've tried a different tray, a bugger tray, I've tried less litter, or more litter in the tray, a different location...but nothing! She is 4, so not old age. Uses the tray fine for wee. What can I do?! Thankfully we have tiles so easy to pick up & clean, and she only does next to the tray. Any help greatly received 🙏

Is it the same litter as usual?

Francescaisstressed · 16/02/2022 09:39

Is it the same litter? Have you tried different litter trays? Eg one with or without a lid? Is this your only cat?

If you think nothing has changed in the house and it's not due to an issue with the litter/litter tray I would take them to the vet to rule out any other problems.

Two trays

Two trays maybe? My boys use one for pee one for poo and one mixed

They are cute but weird

It's the same type of litter, but is a different brand. She's had a hooded tray, a small tray, a larger tray. I've not tried the hooded tray in a different location...I'll try that today. she's been so good for the last 3.5 years with one tray, in the same place so not sure what her beef is at the mo...other than keeping me on my toes!

It'll be the change in litter.

Just a update, the precious cat is happy again & we've had no more mishaps!

The answer....

Hooded tray, facing the wall....obviously wanted more privacy! 🙈🤣

These cats keep us on our toes don't they!

Wanted more privacy so pooed on the floor...some perfectly rational cat logic, there 😂 Glad you've got it sorted, OP.

Love an update rather than a moan and go. Flowers
