Hey All, just looking for a hand hold really and some hope if you have any? Our 6 month old male kitten, who isnt yet fixed (due to covid and generally laxness on my part, I admit) has been missing 24 hours. He's gorgeous as photo proves and generally doesnt go far at all, is scared to go out the front street way and cant easily scale the back fence, and is just the most cuddly boy, happy indoors and governed by his appetite! So he was last seen 3am-ish Sat morning, hasnt been seen since. Weve been out looking, listed him missing with vets, rescues, facebook etc, made posters, knocked on neighbours.. its pissing down here and cold so im telling myself that isnt helping.

I guess i just want to hear from people whose entire males have wandered for a bit, as im actually paranoid due to his coat and colour, hes been stolen...
Pic to follow.

No picture, but he's probably wandered off (unneutered cats do that) and has lost his way. I truly hope he hasn't been ran over (it happens, when tom cats are chasing after females/fighting with other males).

Try putting flyers through doors, ringing PDSA, RSPCA, in case he's been taken there.

Sorry yes the pic wont upload but he is silver grey longhaired tabby. Hes gorgeous. He's still quite small which is a concern and he just doesnt go far. Ive called the rspca, listed him there, listed him with local cats protection, plastered him all over local sites. Cats protection said if he had been hit we would know sooner than later as hes chipped.. im hopeful obviously that hes just a bit lost. Ive done posters to put up tomorrow, just wondered if he was likely to find his way back? (Where he wont be going out again until done!)

I’d cast your net further, toms have a wide territory.

kittenkipper · 13/02/2022 22:45

An unneutered Tom will go FAR to find an in heat queen. They are cocky and sure and fool hardy.

That said, governed by his appetite? I accidentally stole a cat for four days once, he wouldn't leave and he swore blind he was starved! So I kept feeding him and every time I fed him he'd purr and cuddle me. Eventually mrs 100 doors down knocked my door with a photo having resorted to doorstep knocking in desperation - I brought her in to see him fast asleep on the sofa. He woke and didn't know who to beg 😂 just mewed and rubbed himself against both our legs. So there is hope. Do knock on your neighbours. It's worth a try

He came back at half 1 this morning, soaked and starving, and terrified poor guy so dont know if he got a bit lost or stuck or what! He has been glued to me all day And is booked for his preop for thursday, and will be sans nuts next week. Thanks for the advise and just listening!

Very pleased he's back. I'd definitely recommend keeping him in until he's snipped now.

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/02/2022 15:10

I’m really pleased for you, he must’ve been trapped somewhere.

thecatneuterer · 14/02/2022 15:21

Oh good. I would keep him inside until he's done.

viques · 14/02/2022 15:32

Oh that is good news. It’s a horrible feeling not knowing. My very elderly girl , really elderly, took her time to jump on the sofa elderly , vanished from a garden with six foot high fences. Trawled the neighbourhood, asked everyone. Gave up hope . Then a week later the cat flap flapped and there she was, cold, starving and shaking. But unharmed. A few days later she saw a fox in the garden and froze! I think she got spooked/ chased by a fox ,( how she got over the fence I don’t know, ) then was either lost or trapped somewhere.

Not knowing is the most awful feeling.
