Cat looks after me

I'm having a bad time with anxiety at the moment and my usually affectionate cat is loving me big time.

I don't know how she knows but she seems to pick up on it before I've even got close and she's all over me, purring like a demon and rubbing her face against mine, lying on my chest for ages. She won't leave my side until heart palpitations have ceased, it's so lovely.

Just wanted to share really...cats are tyrannical overlords and as soon as I'm having a good day she'll be back to expecting me to wait on her with little or no thanks!

My old boy Rafa, who was an affectionate bugger anyway was amazing years ago when I was going through a divorce. He used to snuggle into me like a big, purring baby and gently lick the tears from my cheeks when I cried. He also started following me when I was moping around, catch my eye and dramatically flop to floor, so hard it would knock the breath out of him. It was so deliberate and comical I couldn't help but laugh

My Mr. Kitty is exactly the same. She's my little angel.

Yes. My cats have always picked up when I'm upset and been super affectionate and clingy in a good way.

My nearly blind cat will lay with me when I have a migraine, making sure he is touching me and won't leave until it's gone. One day he spent 12 hours by my side. He seems to know when they go even if I don't get up and go to sleep instead!

One of my others kept me company constantly when my chronic fatigue was bad. She would get under the covers and spoon with me when I had to lay in bed all day.

Absolutely.

When I'm in any emotional distress she's at my side like a shot, trying to make eye contact as in 'are you ok?' No words needed.

She's really old now too (18), I'll miss her so much when she goes.

My Rafa was a well-known character in the neighbourhood, even people who said they didn't like cats fell for his charms

My DH's cat realised I was pregnant before we did. She lived in his lap but suddenly started heading for my stomach whenever I sat down. The first day I experienced morning sickness we both looked at each other and went "oh that's why!".

@MrFsAunt I hate when you have to start mentally preparing yourself for the fact they won't be with you forever- I hope she lives long enough to make it into the guineas book of records!
