Cat attacks my daughter

I need some help. Our cat who is around 2 1/2 keeps attacking my DD7 for no reason. She will be minding her own business, paying no attention to the cat eg. sitting at the kitchen table doing her homework or playing quietly in her bedroom by herself and the cat will launch at her and start scratching and biting her. She doesn't behave like this with anyone else in the family, she even sleeps on DS bed.
DD is terrified of the cat and I just don't know what to do about it!

What is DD like with the cat the rest of the time?

Do you play with the cat regularly so that she can expend her energy in a suitable way? If not, she's probably bored.
