No longer using the litter tray

My previously well trained 18 month old cat has started peeing outside the litter tray. She has so far peed on all the beds, her bed and now one of the sofa cushions.

She’s been to the vet twice and had antibiotics, a probiotic and metacam. We have a feliway plug in. I’ve changed her litter box to a bigger one and now i am at the end of my tether.

Any suggestions?

Multiple litter trays.

Does she go outside?

Which litter do you use? Anything big or sharp they won’t tread on because it’s too hard on their paw pads.

Pixilicious · 24/01/2022 11:43

@fairylightsandwaxmelts less so than she used to but she does have a cat flap that she uses.

@Fluffycloudland77 Ultra clumping, very fine litter, cleaned out every day

my be another litter tray then

That’s the best litter so I think your right to try another tray. Buy two just incase she’s ultra fussy.

You can give them Cystease sprinkled in their food too, it’s very palatable.

Unfortunately cats do raise the bar once their paws are under the table. Mines got me feeding her on the spare bed because she doesn’t do tiles anymore 😫

One of my cats won't use clumping litter now he's an adult Hmm if I dare to use it he relieves himself next to the trays instead Grin

Maybe try two trays with different litter in each and see if there's a preference?

Thanks all :-)

My cat was weeing outside the litter tray, I now have two trays. One has a lid, one doesn't and she uses both although the one with a lid is used only for poos.

I also give her cystease tablets to de-stress as the vet thinks it is due to her freaking out about other cats.

I also clean the areas where she went with an odour remover to try to stop her repeating it.

Right, I'll get the cystease and another open litter tray, see how she gets on. Thanks so much everyone.
