Carpet scratching

I have an 8 month old rescue kitty. She is great fun and has lots of toys and entertainment as I'm WFH.

She could go outside if she wanted to - but so far has only managed a couple of meters outside the back door.

When she gets excited there is a particular patch of carpet she likes to stick her claws into enthusiastically - it does have a little step.

However, I am rented. I really really don't want her to damage the carpet. I growl at her when she does this. She has 4 scratching posts including a huge one for climbing and a cat tree. No similarity in texture or anything I can think of.

Is there anything further I can do to discourage this - it's always in her mad half hour moments at the start and end of the day.

Have you tried something like this? www.amazon.co.uk/Vivaglory-Scratcher-Reversible-Scratching-Corrugated/dp/B07FZYTVCH/ref=asc_df_B07FZYTVCH?hvlocphy&linkCode=df0&psc=1&hvnetw=o&hvlocint&hvdev=c&hvadid=80745442135171&hvqmt=e&hvbmt=be&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&hvtargid=pla-4584345018824876

It sounds as though she prefers to scratch horizontally rather than vertically. If that doesn't work I would get some carpet off cuts or old samples from your local carpet shop (if you ask nicely they will probably be free) and put them over the spots where she scratches.

Put some double sided sticky tape down to deter her and get her some scratch mats and put them near where she enjoys scratching.

You can also get scratch mars that fold, so you could put one over her favourite spot to protect the carpet.
I have a wave shaped scratcher and a couple of poles. They seem to like a variety of places.
