Cat vaccinations - shortage

My cat is due his annual jab this month, but I’ve had a letter from the vets saying there is an international shortage of cat vaccinations and to contact them again in March.

Anyone else heard about this and know what’s going on? Does it matter if my cat has to wait a couple more months? Off the top of my head I’m not even sure what they are vaccinated against.

A few years agowhen I was lazy booking appointments, my vet told me that the cat needs a booster within 3 months of the due date (ie within 15 months of the last jab) otherwise the booster doesn’t work properly and they have to start the original course of jabs again.

Haribo was due boosters October 2021 but there was a shortage. I contacted them as advised mid December and booked him in 10 January which was the latest before he needed another full course. It wouldn't have cost me any more as he's on Vets for Pets vaccs for life but the week after he was done the vets were only taking in emergency care.

Yes our cats vaccination has been delayed from Jan to April because of the shortage.

Thank you both. I’m also on the vaccs for life scheme so at least I know it won’t cost extra. More worried about my baby getting poorly. I’ve had a Google and that also says up to 15 months is ok so I’ve got until end of April. Hope they sort it out before then!!
