Kitten weeing in weird places

Help! My 7 month old kitten has always had a habit of weeing in weird places. It started with the dirty laundry basket, swapped it for one with a lid. Next the door mats. Now she's is peeing in the bath, onto of all the kids bath toys (not very comfortable in my opinion). We have tried everything we can think of, the vet says she's fine, she has 2 litter trays, one upstairs one down. We have tried several types of litter, she only like the cheap stuff. Litter trays almost always clean. Worst thing is her clean litter tray is next to the bath she peed in. She is getting spayed on Monday, someone please reassure me that she will stop after this, I've already had to remove any floor length curtains. Obligatory photo included.

Mine also does this but with shoes! She’s currently at the vets being spayed so I’m hoping it will stop!

Not just me then. Everything I read online says she must be I'll or upset. I think she's just a bit of a Wally to be honest

She’s very fussy about the litter as well, if it’s not the right brand she refuses to use it! I’ve got my fingers crossed that spaying her will sort it - she’s been in heat and howling the house down so hopefully that will also stop and I’ll get a decent nights sleep!

Spaying could help as often peeing in inappropriate places is just a marking behaviour.

Have you had her checked for a UTI?

elf1985 · 21/01/2022 07:20

I asked the vet nurse about it at her last vaccinations and she said she looks fine.

How long ago was that if she's seven months old now?

elf1985 · 21/01/2022 09:48

Only about 6 weeks ago as they have been so busy. She's been doing this since she was about 3 months old.

Lot getting spayed now. Shes in heat

I suspect it's because she's not spayed then - is there a reason why she wasn't done when she was younger?

elf1985 · 22/01/2022 21:52

Just because the vets were so short staffed.

Mine sometimes wees in the dog's toy box (only found out recently when we caught her!)

When adult dcat was peeing everywhere we reduced his access to the house for 6 months. Kitchen, utility and outdoors only. It worked. Been OK for over 5 years now.
