Neighbour's cats pooing in our garden

I have two cats of my own. Neighbour now has 5 cats and they are all pooing in our garden. I know it is them - I've seen them do it. Plus - my cats are unintentionally house cats in the main. It wasn't my plan but they just seem to hate going out. They will venture out if I force them but they don't leave our garden - just sit on the patio although will have a wander around if I am also sitting out. Also - their litter trays are always full and I know what their poo looks like and it rarely changes. They haven't been out at all today and I've gone out on poo patrol and the garden is chock a bloc with cat poo, a lot of it 'fresh'.

NDN has learning disabilities and lives alone after his parents died. Funnily enough, his garden is like a jungle whereas ours is very neat with short grass, but his cats still poo in ours. I've tried to encourage him to get a litter tray but he just says 'no'. The cats appear well looked after - they all have collars, look well fed and groomed etc.

So I am asking if anyone has any advice about keeping other cats off their grass while allowing their own on the grass if they feel like it. I am aware this may not be possible but I don't want to turn my cats fully into house cats so it is worth asking if anyone else has conquered this problem. It's a fairly big garden and the poo is all over it so I don't think putting down orange peel is a solution as I'd need about a thousand oranges!

Thanks in advance if anyone has any suggestions.

What sort of fence do you have? Could you put cat spikes on the top to stop his coming in?

THIS Pestbye® Jet Spray Battery Operated Motion Activated Cat Scarer & Repellent - Animal Repeller www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004YCUT4W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_Z81RZGDHMSXFYS9H75HN?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

You can switch it off when your cats want to go out.

After a few days of me using it, our neighbours’ cats stopped coming into the garden at all so I don’t even need to switch it on anymore.

@LadyFannyButton - this wouldn’t work as there are multiple ways to access the garden for a cat including via bushes on the other neighbours side plus a garage that they climb up and over. But thanks for replying - and I love your username! 😃
