Incontinent cat

I have 2 cats, both 14 years old. One of them seems to be incontinent. Woke up yesterday to find a pop on the sofa, found little pops around the house about once a week for a few months. Quite unusual, never done this before. So my question is firstly how do I identify which one it is? And what treatment can I get? My husband is freaking out about hygiene, we have a 9 year old and a 4 year old. Thanks so much.

Separate them overnight tonight? Each with a litter tray of course!! Then a vet check.

What you describe as "Incontinence" is more likely to be inappropriate soiling due to stress.
Has something changed at home? New furniture, new person, a change to the routine?
Are there foxes or other cats in the garden which might be stressing your kitty?
Has the cat had a bad experience of the litter tray? A shock, an ambush, a sore bottom which he might associate with the tray.
Do you have alternative trays he can use? (you should have 1-2 per cat in the household.)
Or it could be that the cat is constipated, pooing is painful and nasty and he is trying to tell you that something is wrong. Mine had a dry poos which he was finding hard to pass and we got a lot of nuggets in strange places. A low dose laxative solved the issue.

@CamomileTeabag thanks. Nothing has changed at home, we’ve been here nearly 10 years and it is just the same. Foxes in the garden, yes, but that’s always been the case.

The constipation could be worth exploring. Found random poos in the hallway for example, really odd. Thanks!
