First cat post on here. we have a ~2yo neutered male cat who likes to hunt and eat whatever he catches (except for shrews). he is on the vets health care plan so he is treated with stronghold plus once a month and droncit or milpro every 3 months.
last Sunday I gave him his droncit tablet, Wednesday and Thursday he was much quieter than usual, since Thursday he has vomited at every mealtime. he vomits then eats it 2-3 times before it stays down. saw vet on Friday, treated for gastritis. seemed to pick up over the weekend but vomiting didn't stop, took him back today. they ran bloods which all look good except a specific marker for white blood cells suggesting that he had a high worm count and he's reacting to all the worms dying off. anyone know anything about this? asked the vet loads of questions re his care and worm programme but not the mechanisms etc behind it.
vet says it's often seen in grazing animals, less so in cats
one other thing is that in October I saw a tapeworm on his bum, contacted the vet and they gave us milpro to try instead of his usual droncit. the most recent treatment has been droncit though.
