Buying stuff for the cats

When my two lovely girls came to us from the rescue last spring, everything was very scary. I had bought a fluffy cat bed as a Christmas gift for my sweet Ruby but sadly she passed away before she got to use it. So, I put this lovely cat bed out and the cats thought it super scary. Then suddenly a month or so ago they suddenly decided it was the best bed ever and tried to sleep in it together, sometimes battling it out :)

Lucy is a big girl though and even on her own would be half in, half out. So, I've bought a similar dog bed. DH thinks I'm daft but I think it's amazing and I think the cats agree!

What have you bought for your feline overlords that others might think a bit daft?

A teepee. But magic absolutely adores it. She sleeps in it all the time.

I love the teepee! DH would absolutely consider it daft but he isn't really a cat person.
I really want to make a felted cat cave, I might make that my next craft project.

An all singing, all dancing custom cat tower. It comes with a 10-year wobble-free guarantee.

A huge array of cat tech. We have the Sureflap Connect catflap (it can be controlled by app), catcam, cat GPS trackers, motion detector feeding tray, the list goes on. We also got a Wi-Fi control for our heat pump so I can control the temperature in the house when they're home alone.

They are extremely spoiled cats!!

Christmas themed cat toys. I mean, it’s Christmas and they are cats. They don’t get it. But…

They love the red and white Santa face with a fluffy green tail on the end of a wand. It is now their favourite toy. Best Christmas present ever!

On a side note, maybe they do get it. One left a dead ‘present’ under the Christmas tree for me.

We have a cat tree that I think is not unusual but people seem to comment on it when they come in. I wanted a safe space for the cats....so higher than us. Plus we have 2 young cats so somewhere they can climb jump and play. It was a bargain and they use it loads.

I have had less success with cat beds which fall in and out of favour. The soft cat bed like in the picture is never used. The current situation is one sleeps on a 'build a bear' chair/bed designed for a Teddy and the other sleeps in a small box that came with raffia packaging in.....

My Daughter's cat in his banana bed.

Oh, the cat beds!

I saw some I liked and bought them. I said to to DH, ‘they’re cats so they probably won’t use them. Maybe they will jump in if I use them like my own pillows and tell the cats ‘no’’.

The cats, being cats and therefore very contrary, loved the beds from the very moment I unpacked them. Of course, it doesn’t mean they no longer sleep in the middle of my bed. It just means they have more options.

I got a cat tower for my cat. It was his fav place. Three years later got him a kitten - mutual love and cat tower became their fav place for cuddling and sleeping. Kitten grew. Insufficient space!! So I bought a second identical tower and now life is "his n hers".

Point being, I now can't get to my window or the radiator for bloody cat towers

2 donut dog beds (similar to yours) and a massive cat tree. Billions of toys. He is a mainecoon so is too big for a standard bed and tree. But he is spoilt as he is my baby

Two of the surefeed smart feeders that read microchips and only open for the correct cats - we are a four cat household and one is on a special diet, we got tired of lifting their bowls multiple times a day when one came up wanting a single mouthful of food while we were working. The hammock has been a great favourite as well.

A lifetime supply of her favourite toy in case it ever goes out of stock.

Her own fresh fish supply Hmm

Floor to ceiling cat tree, in the expectation it would be ignored...
