Over grooming and fur loss

Anyone had this with their cat? The vets not worried, said it could be caused by stress although I'm not sure about that as she doesn't seem stressed at all!! Nothing has changed at home, she has a very cosy life mooching from bed to food to the garden and then back to bed.

I'm just wondering if there's anything else that can do to encourage the fur to grow back and to stop her pulling it out?

Yes, mine has always done this a bit but it has got much worse recently and she has big patches of skin visible. I had the vet round and he thought it could be allergy-related (though he had no idea what the actual allergy might be) and gave her an anti-allergy shot, which has helped a bit, I think.

Would be interested to hear others' experiences too.

Cats are remarkably good at hiding stress. It could be that there’s a new neighbourhood cat around causing upset. Even my indoor cat was upset when a new cat started prowling around and she doesn’t even go outside to see it.

I would treat it as it it was stress even if you’re not convinced and see if that would help.

(Unless you’ve made any other changes like food that could be causing allergy related itching.)
