Hello all

Sorry to ask a daft question

Can I please ask if this sounds right

220 pounds for 3 in 1 treatment every three months (5cats 3 dogs)

Love them dearly so always buy the best but this is costing a fortune

Are there cheaper ways to treat fleas and worms every three months ?

It's cheaper to buy decent stuff from a pet shop. I use Frontline for my cat.

OldSpeclkledHen · 23/12/2021 22:00

Frontline doesn't work so well these days.

Do they have fleas?

Where do you normally get the treatment from? Vets stuff tends to be the best - but then you're paying vet premium (prepared to be shot down)

wheresmymojo · 23/12/2021 22:08

Do you buy it from the vets?

I buy mine from an online pet drug store now and it's so much cheaper for the same thing...

Haven't priced up the dog, but the 5 cats would be £165 for a year's supply

As pp above - I use petdrugsonline. If your usual combo is prescription only, you could do what I do and buy advantage and then dronspot.

Queenie6655 · 23/12/2021 22:19

Thank you so so much

Coming in at 800 per year cats and dogs from vets

3 in 1

Yes from vets

Feel like I have been bitten by fleas in bed so went to vets to get 3 in 1

Mad price

How could anyone go for that 4 times a year

Some vets do yearly price for flea and worm and vaccinations etc.
But having 8 pets will never be cheap!

True

Will do more research from now on

Get your prescription from the vet and buy online - petdrugsonline is great and viovet is another.

Vets obviously want you to buy through them but it will be extortionate as they can't buy in bulk like the online companies can.

I only ever pay for prescription medication at the vets if it's urgent - otherwise I ask for a prescription and order it online.

Queenie6655 · 29/12/2021 10:36

Sorry guys

Cats seem to still have the fleas. !!!!!!

Just awful
My bed is full of them

Can I use another treatment or do I wait?

It's been a week

Indorex flea spray is the dog's. I buy advantage flea drops from one of the above links and I've not seen a flea for a long time. Don't redose them, the fleas will die off them, but you really need to treat the house.

AwkwardPaws27 · 29/12/2021 11:30

I use Advantage for my cats (v similar to Advocate but doesn't cover ear mites, which I've never had an issue with). You can get that without a prescription from Petdrugsonline or other online pharmacies.

For my dog, I always use Advocate as the dog version covers lungworm which is not uncommon and can be very serious or even fatal. I'm extra careful with him as he is also on immunosuppressive medication.

AwkwardPaws27 · 29/12/2021 11:31

You definitely need to treat the house too! Indorex is brilliant.

Are you sure they aren't bed bugs?

Queenie6655 · 29/12/2021 11:40

Tha n you all

Treated the house twice

Will go for it again
Ighhhh just horrible

Like after an expensive treatment for all the animals it should have worked?

This is the treatment we always use
Hmmmm

Are you hoovering before and for 7 consecutive after spraying? And underneath rugs etc as well as on top? Infestations are hard to get rid of.

Make sure they are definitely fleas and not bed bugs too.
