I know they like to give the furniture a bit of a bespoke look with their claws but do they grow out of this, I'd like to plan buying a new sofa!! Just wondering when is it likely he'll retire from his artistries Smile

Artists need an outlet! They like really tall scratch posts so they can stretch and scratch. You can get some very nice ones now made of tree branches with little sheepskin hammocks.

Our cattery had them. I’d taken his scratch post with me but left it in the car as it was like taking Cider to a champagne reception. He had a happy week snoozing on it.

Fluffycloudland77 do you happen to have a photo of said scratcher?

3kidsareenough they don't grow out of scratching furniture, sadly, but they definitely have a preference as to what material they like to scratch. Unfortunately, they're preferences all differConfused Some type of big scratcher will help. I bought a new sofa a few years back and 1 out of the 3 cats I had at the time scratched it. He didn't ruin it, thankfully. He's actually no longer here, and the other cats I have, except 1, are kept in the kitchen and don't have access to my sofaGrin

In my experience they don't grow out of it.

No, @Want2beme. If you look on Brantley cattery they have pictures.
