Milk in dry cat food!!

I recently bought a big 4kg bag of own brand dry cat food from Pets at Home for my lovely cat.

I was in a hurry, it was a good price and I assume Pets at Home products would be trustworthy.

After a couple of days of eating this my cat developed diarrhoea and very smelly farts! Having now checked the ingredients I can see it contains milk!

My cat is milk intolerant. I learned this last year, shortly after he came to live with me. I had given him a little cat treat which resulted in him having diarrhoea....which then caused a blocked anal gland.

He's been fine since then, until this recent Pets at home dry cat food. Obviously I won't give him anymore of it.

But I am confused because I thought that all cats are milk/lactose intolerant? And if that's the case, why do Pets at Home put milk in their standard cat food??! I know this is my fault for not checking the ingredients..... but I'm also a bit peed of with Pets at Home. I just can't understand why they would include an ingredient that is known to be bad for cats. I may complain, but I'm not sure if I'm being unreasonable. What do you think?

Most definitely write and complain! Milk should not be added at all. Remind them that you could have run up a huge vet bill before realising it was the milk ingredient as a normal person would not have expected to see it added Shock

Glad he is feeling better Flowers

@Pixiedust1234 thank you Pixiedust. I'm so glad I noticed before he became more unwell. I will write to them!
