Poorly cat - waking backwards strangely

CharlieCat - had painkillers and anti-inflammatory injection on Saturday as was obviously unwell, not eating, very subdued etc, a bit of a temperature. Has had Melicam once a day since then. Is eating now, but still very subdued.
He's doing something very strange - he often walks a few steps and then suddenly walks backwards instead and struggles to right himself, and seems confused. Any ideas what this could be? He's 6 years old.
Going back to the vets tomorrow I think.
Thanks in advance.

Is he doing it often? Does he have fleas? Is he scared of something? It could be a disorder of some kind. A nerve problem.

Hope you get to the bottom of it.

I had a cat who had a stroke and couldn't walk properly. (He recovered ok from it).

Are you able to get him to the vet today?

My old boy (15) had this a few times and seemed to shake it off after a few hours and be fine for a few days. He got worse and suddenly Couldn’t move properly and almost seemed to be incredibly stiff and seemed spooked. It was unfortunately a brain tumour and we had to say goodbye but the vet did say there were a number of things it could be when we started investigations- most likely sounded to be a stroke or small brain bleed.

I hope you get to the bottom of it, my lad scared the life out of me when he did it first because he nearly fell backwards down the stairs!

How did you get on at the vets today OP?

Sounds neurological. There are things the vet can do to ease it, like Vit B and steroids. Straight to the vet, hope he gets better. My old cat had it but she was 12, and always had refused to eat anything but dry cat food (best quality) but I think it wasnt enough. Wish i had been stricter and put her on a fresh meat diet (did try a few times but she always refused).
