Hungry all the time

Haribo is 2. He weighs 1 stone, he sits on the scales. He is a bit overdue with worming but today he's surpassed himself with his eating and thievery.

My partner, who isn't here at the moment has put bits of cooked tuna steak and chicken in little plastic pots in the freezer. When defrosted these "yum yums" last 3 days. I put one pot out to defrost and gave him a couple of pieces. I put the lid back on and went upstairs. Not long after Haribo came upstairs and lay on the bed for a snooze.

I then went downstairs to find the plastic pot, empty and mauled on the living room floor, the lid in his box. He's scoffed the lot. He's also nagged for his biscuits, Hills 1-6.

I made some sponge mixture to make a little steamed pudding for my dessert but whilst I was eating my dinner I heard a slurp, slurp slurp behind me and the greedy little sod was lapping away at my sponge mixture.

He'll be wanting night time snacks later (Hills again).

Is he greedy or could there be something else going on? I know he's fat and I do call him Chubster to try and fat shame him but he doesn't care.

Wow, that's hefty. I'd take him to the vet and take their advice.

I have a cat that will eat almost everything given half a chance. She once ate a bowl of tuna and all the oil it was in, and then vomited up a sort of solidified oil sausage. She has also pulled chicken carcasses out of the waste food caddy and eaten them along with the elastic strings that came with them more than once.

Because of the amount of food she would eat and the fact some of it is dangerous, we have to be constantly on our guard to not leave food out and keep doors closed if we’re cooking. We also feed her at very regular times so she knows not to pester at other times. Nothing wrong with her, but it is quite wearing.

I feed him when I get up which is some days 6.30am and around my dinner time. If I'm at home lunchtime he gets a small amount of Hills.

I wouldn't be surprised if he has the RSPCA on speed dial for the times I ignore him when he's whinging for food.

Does he go out much? Sometimes they just get bored indoors and all they can think of doing is FOOD.

Oh bless. That is quite hefty, I feel we need a picture of the chunky darling😍 Probably a vet appointment to rule out anything physiological and get advice on food quantities would be the best bet.

When our cat first came to us, she would not stop eating or crying for food. She was underweight and I still have no idea how as she would just cry and cry until we fed her. She’s a rescue, they must have been tougher than me!

She did put on weight and I worried she wouldn’t stop but she seems to know now there will always be food and grazes now, never finishing her food except supper which is wet food and she scoffs that.

She’s definitely less greedy now she can go outside as well.

@thatsallineed you could be right. His friend Hugo moved away in May and there isn't any cat he wants to go catting about with. He doesn't like the rain and doesn't like getting his paws wet. He sits and sleeps in the greenhouse so can be outside when he's in. He's happy to come in quite early in the evenings which is a relief after he went missing in May 2020 and he doesn't stay out at night. He treats the house as a hotel.
