Does your cat sleep with their eyes open?

I have a fluffy black cat, she was laying on my bed last night. I was on my phone, when happened to glance at her, she was laying comfortably, with her head tilted, so laying on one side of her head. Perfectly calm, breathing normally.
But her one eye, I could see wide open, and looking like starring into space.
Without moving my body, so to not shake the bed, I waved my arm about, no reaction.
It was weird! I watched her for about five mins, didn't blink once.

I do, apparently. Gave one of my friends a horrible fright once, when we were on holiday together and sharing a room. She woke up in the morning and saw me lying there motionless with my eyes open, she said that for a moment she thought I was dead!

We had guinea pigs who slept with their eyes open.

I must admit, after the five mins, just watching her, and could see she was breathing, I stroked her, to make sure was ok.
It was quite unnerving to see the one eye starring.

Yes - one of mine does. I've seen his eyes moving (and his paws twitching) in REM sleep.

I'd give 10 years of my life to know what he was dreaming.

Yup, my no longer with me boy definitely used to do this. It can obviously look really creepy, but it’s not unusual. I like to think he was channelling his inner dolphin!

Sometimes. When he was really mad at me he was lay still with one eye open, I was shaking him and prodding him, pulled him off the cushion and nothing. Then he snapped the other eye open, glared at me and stalked off
In summer he lies in the garden with one eye open pretending to be dead until there's a small crowd of people wondering if he's ok, then he suddenly jumps up
