Rid the smell of cat wee

We have had to start looking our cat in over night. This is partly due to roaming foxes and him getting into standoffs and partly due to him bringing in live animals at night/dawn (rats, mice and birds). Hes been fine for the last 2 weeks but last night he weed on our bath mat in the night. I feel really bad as he comes in at 10pm and i let him out at 7am so i thought he was fine with his business. Anyway we will have to reinstate a litter tray but how can I rid the smell in the meantime? I chucked the bath mat and washed the floor with water and bleach and it still smells!

I found a diluted mixture of biological wash detergent and water sprayed on and left for a while gets rid of urine smells. I have a female but a local male sometimes gets in and sprays my furniture. The spray normally gets rid of it. You can also buy cleaner from pet stores for the same thing.

Bleach is the worst product to use because of the ammonia in it, which adds to the stinkGrin

Have a look at this.

You're right to give him a litter tray or 2.

Yes, don't use bleach. Biological washing powder solution, or Simple Solution liquid sold by Pets at Home.
