Anyone have a cat drinking fountain?

I have three cats, all Siamese and all almost 17.

We have a cat flap which they all use but for some reason they like to 'go' indoors so we have a litter tray .
One of them - the boy cat loves fresh water and sits in the bath watching the water drip and drinks it.
Since he is in there so much he has taken to pooing on the bath mat and sometimes weeing.
I know - when they are this age there are no real solutions !
We are going to start shutting the bathroom door so he can't have the bath water to drink so I am now looking at drinking fountains.
There seem to be lots and vary in price. I am not too bothered about the cost as long as it works.
Suggestions welcome

..and thanks !

My friend has one - her four cats all love it! She got it off Amazon. I am looking into getting one for my guys

We have a Catit one for our Mog. She loves it. We clean it regularly and change the filters once a month. I’d really recommend getting one.

Is it the three flower one? I am looking at it on eBay now priced about £25

Yeah, my neighbours bought a water feature
Or in my cats words "nice new drinking water thing for ME"
Hmm
She switches it on especially for him

Purplewithred · 10/12/2021 13:08

I bought the catmate one recently. One cat really likes it, although he still rushes into the bathroom whenever he can hear me there so I can turn the tap on for him. I have never had any idea where the other cat gets her water from but it's not from anything I've every supplied her.

I secretly wish I'd got one of the prettier water fountains..

daisypond · 10/12/2021 13:10

I have a cat mate one. I’ve had it 13 years and it’s still going strong. Cat likes it and uses it.

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 10/12/2021 13:12

Two of ours like the fountain but the old one has never used it, to my knowledge, so she still has a water bowl.

ToastieSnowy · 10/12/2021 13:12

You need another litter tray. Ideally one per cat but 2 would do. This may be the reason your cat is doing his business in the bath.

I do have a water fountain and my cats love it. It’s a Cat Mate one. Worth getting as before I got one, I had one cat licking the bottom of the taps to get water rather than use the bowl.

Hathertonhariden · 10/12/2021 13:15

I bought one on a friend's recommendation but my cats treated it with huge suspicion from the start and refuse point blank to use it.

StartingGrid · 10/12/2021 13:16

We have the petmate ones, both the multi level ones and the shells, they're well worth the money!

I never thought of that. The tray is used by both females and I see him 'going' in the garden regularly and so assumed he was OK, but it's when he goes for a drink in the bathroom that he sometimes lapses and uses the mat (he did it last night). When I sort the washing into piles it sometimes smells of cat wee so I expect he is marking his territory too. Deep Joy. There are times when I go upstairs and see him sitting in the bath just staring at the water.. it's a pastime for him.. so too lazy to go downs the stairs and outside for the loo.

I forgot to mention that one of the girl cats also uses the shower to pee in and has been known to use the loo.
They are Siamese.. totally whacky and completely different to other breeds.

I bought one for one of my cats after he had urinary problems. Needless to say he won't go near it. Only one of my cats uses it at all.

Anordinarymum · 10/12/2021 13:49
Ah.. just checked and it is a dispenser not a fountain... It's the fountain I am after. But thank you anyway

The fountain is for boy cat. The two females share the dog's water.

I swear this house is more like an hotel for pets every day :)

I have a cat fountain, cat doesn’t like it so we only use it when we go away (I figure she will use it if desperate). And the noise of it makes me need a wee.

MsFogi · 10/12/2021 14:01

MIL has one - the noise of it drives me mad, once I noticed it constantly running in the background it was like water torture (I surreptitiously turn it off whenever I go there).

Shmithecat2 · 10/12/2021 14:06

I've one similar to this (my exact model is no longer available). Its great, had it a year with no problem. Its just about silent unless the water is too low, then you can hear it. Easy to clean, just filters to buy for it.

I have one and mr Jones loves it. I do think the leccy has been finishing quite quickly since I got it though Hmm

CrumpleHornedSnowcack · 10/12/2021 14:49

I have the Catit flower one & my little guy loves it so much he's stopped drinking out of mouldy garden flower pots

inferiorCatSlave · 10/12/2021 14:55

Catit Original Flower Fountain We've had this one since we got our cats -3.5 years no issues on all the time and the slight noise has never bothered us.

Also have a water bottle feeder - they use it less more in summer.

Toddlerteaplease · 10/12/2021 15:22

I have an Umitaz one from Amazon. They love it and use it all the time.

TheDuchessofDukeStreet · 10/12/2021 15:33

Ours is not the flower one, it has a metal top but I think the mechanism is the same.
