Spaying - recovery time

Not my cat; asking fir my son. How long does it take fir a cat to recover from being spayed?

I have found for a full recover about 3 weeks ish. They are normally back playing after a few days though, just need to be very careful with their stitches etc.....

Well I couldn't disagree more with the above poster. In my experience of hundreds, if not thousands, of cats they are generally back to normal as soon as the effects of the anaesthetic wears off, so around 24 hours. They are then back to their normal selves of running, jumping and whatever else they were doing before. Stitches are normally internal and don't require a cone or any special precautions. We advise that cats are kept inside for five days after spaying, but we also do neuter and return within 24 hours if necessary without any problem. There are some vets that do external stitching and cones, and of course cones will have a big effect on how a cat reacts.

The younger they are when they are done (we do them at 1kg - so around 11 weeks) the less they seem to notice anything has happened at all.

Zara thought it was about 20 minutes. She was 6 months and wild as soon as she came home from the vets. In reality I'd say she was completely healed in 10 days

None of mine have ever needed recovery time. Just as mental as they all ways are as soon as they are home.
Boy cat was a little unwell for 24 hours after he was done.

all sounding positive. Hoping DS's cat will be recovered sufficiently to come to stay with us at Christmas. I guess time will tell in the first couple of days post op though. She's booked in for 13 December
