I had to say goodbye to my gorgeous boy just before the first lockdown. It pretty much broke my heart. It took me a long time (almost 18 months) to log-on to my old computer which has tonnes of earlier photos of him on there. I finally managed to do so, and out of all of them, this is probably my favourite photo.

And now, almost 72,000 crystals later, I’ve just finished this picture. I’m so pleased with it - not going to lie, I shed a few tears looking at the finished product. I need to get a frame made for it and am looking forward to having him watching over me in the living room 🐾💕

Furries What a majestic-looking boy!

Santaischeckinglists Yours is gorgeous too.

My own boy (17 or older) had to have an eye removed in August. He's also deaf and has only got one of his fangs left out of 4

Thank you! His nickname was Mr Handsome Cat 🤣

Wow, your boy has been through it a bit, but he’s gorgeous. How’s he coping with one eye? Give him a gentle head bop from me.

Ha, most definitely not 😂

It’s called diamond painting. You can choose from 1000s of standard images (animals, landscapes, beaches - you name it). The company I buy from also does custom canvases - send them a photo, let them know what size you want, and you’ll receive a canvas with the photo image on it plus all the coloured crystals. The canvas is made up of 1000s of little squares with symbols on - and the symbols correspond with the various coloured crystals.

Although I might see if I can get away with saying I studied at the Royal Academy of Art (clue - I can hardly even produce a decent looking stick man 🤣)

Thank you! Though I’m definitely not talented, just quite patient (have just posted explanation above). It’s a lovely project to do on dark winter evenings. I’ve got another 2 canvases to do throughout winter. I’m getting just one frame and will change over pictures through the year for a bit of variety.

Thank you - I still miss him so much, but this felt like a lovely tribute to spend some time on.

It's a lovely idea. I lost my dear doggie during lockdown 1, and the photo collage I've put in the living room gives me great pleasure. My sister was kind enough to do a little cross-stich of him.
