Ungrateful traitor cats

I pushed for the cat. I feed the cat. I sort out all things for the cat. I let him sit on me and I buy him treats.
So please explain why DP is his favourite! He constantly teases him, picks him up when he doesn’t want it and treats him like a dog. So unfair Confused

🤣 that is one spoilt cat!

AlCalavicci · 18/11/2021 15:20

You or DH feeds your cat custard creams and let her sit in your fridge Confused

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/11/2021 15:26

How else will you know the cats favourite biscuit though?

Dh wanted our departed Bengal, I just wanted a kitten. Cat spent first 6 years studiously ignoring dh & draping himself over me. If he touched him he’d put his back down and walk away.

FelicityBeedle · 18/11/2021 15:27

@AlCalavicci
He tried to eat a custard cream I was eating, so I let him try a bite thinking he’d hate it. He loved it Blush
I was sorting out the bottom drawer of the freezer looking for something for tea, I turned round and he had leapt into the space the daft git, I had to take a photo!

Hahaah @Fluffycloudland77 has a good point!

@FelicityBeedle The cat I paid for, care for, buy everything for, play with, give treats to, feed etc batted me on the end of the nose and drew (a miniscule amount of) blood when we were playing this afternoon.

Ungrateful beast.

OneMoreForExtra · 18/11/2021 15:48

Your cat rocks OP!

Mine on the other hand, savagely attacked my hair in the night, did a follow through fart that left a trail on the duvet, and waited till a key online finance meeting to fall asleep across my notebook. He is a git.

LiterallyKnowsBest · 18/11/2021 15:54

House-sat a friend’s cat for a few days recently.

Cat knows me but we don’t see each other often.

Friend and cat are soulmates of several years’ standing.

Had a pleasant stay with cat.

Friend returns. We sit on opposite sofas drinking tea.

Cat arrives on threshold of sitting room.

Friend and I each call cat to us.

Cat tilts head. Considers ...

Comes to me.

Poor friend still not over it. 😹

prettyteapotsplease · 18/11/2021 16:14

They are contrary little sods at the best of times.

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/11/2021 18:18

That was friends punishment for going awol.

“I love new mum, barely noticed you’d gone, you cruel owner”

Ilovemycat13 · 18/11/2021 18:25

I blame hormones, OP. My beautiful cat used to prefer my partner over me - not by much but he was deffo the favourite. I blamed the fact I had womanly hormones and he could smell them and he just preferred men!

FelicityBeedle · 18/11/2021 19:21

@Ilovemycat13
By all accounts he was a sexually voracious Tom until he was neutered by the rescue we got him from, I think he should still be coming onto me by the hormone theory Grin

My DH dearly wants a cat/cats but when we had the guinea-pigs I said "No" it wouldn't be fair to either animal.

So once we were piggie-less , he gave ME the job of looking for cats .
(On the strict instruction one had to be a black cat)

Out of the 100s of rescues , I chose our beautiful bro/sis pair of black DSH.

Are they grateful to me ? No.
Do they ever say "Thanks serf for bringing us to your adequate home to wreck your sofa and cover your carpet in CatsBest" . No
Does she sit with DH , pawing at his arm as he WFH. You bet . Paw. Paw. Pay attention to me .
Photobomb the Zoom Call.
Then sleeps in the chair beside him.

I have served my purpose picking them.

BobbieT1999 · 18/11/2021 23:05

Do you have a second cat in the freezer drawer? Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 18/11/2021 23:10

Maybe he read the theory about putting a Siamese in the freezer and it makes their points darker . He was trying to point up , pretending there was a tiny % of Siamese going on.

FelicityBeedle · 18/11/2021 23:12

Oh we have a hamster and a large fish tank, I think of them as CaTV

Toddlerteaplease · 19/11/2021 11:55

The solution is to live on your own. Then the cats have no choice but to favour you.

Toddlerteaplease · 19/11/2021 11:59

I took my two to the cattery once. As Soon as Snorg saw her favourite staff member, she did the quivery tail thing. I rarely got quivery tail back then. I was Sad

Ifixfastjets · 21/11/2021 00:10

The arm is mine.
The blanket is mine.
The body under the blanket is mine.
The cat is not mine.
But he slept there all night

NotMyCat · 21/11/2021 00:28

My cat adores me but when my dad is here..
dad doesn't do cats, he treats them like small dogs. My cat trails after him shouting happily until my dad gives him chin scratches and says stuff like "three of those little treats? He needs more! He's tiny! Maybe he wants some ham?"

FelicityBeedle · 21/11/2021 11:20

@Ifixfastjets
As in it’s another family member’s cat? Or a random cat from the great outdoors Grin

soddingkitten · 22/11/2021 22:45

Sodding goes round to my neighbour’s and naps curled up on her bed with his BFF/her rescue cat Shyboy. She says he still hisses at her sometimes as he comes & goes. He’s definitely visiting Shyboy not my neighbour, which is as it should be.

Sodding loves DS1 the best. DS2 is still smarting about it 18 months down the line. He asks why, being new to cat serfdom. We shrug and say that’s just how it is with cats. I am resigned to providing meals, worming and doing flea treatments. Story of my bloody life!

WildFlowerBees · 22/11/2021 23:12

Boy cat does a dance with dh at bedtime..

We get into bed
Boy cat goes to dh side of the bed
'Brr'
'Come on then fella'
'Brrrr!'
'Come on then, up you come'
'Brrrrr!'
'come on then if you're coming'

Boy cat then taps dh arm, dh strokes him, taps his arm, dh strokes him.

Finally after 5 minutes of this he jumps up and snuggles up to dh purring and dribbling with happiness for 15 mins before jumping off and going to his bed.

This happens every..single..night..

Me, the one who feeds, spoils etc etc, what do I get?

Nothing! Not a damn thing, not a look in unless it's 5am and he's hungry then he jumps on my pillow, puts his paw on my head then rips out some hair.

Bastard. I adore him
