Manufactured food - alternatives

DC was really unwell on Whiskers and Felix. Caused Lots of aggressive scratching resulting in open sores at her ears. The most most putrid pours. Regurgitating the dry food. Purée poos.

Changed her to Science Plan. Resolved putrid poo but not regurgitation and purée poo.

Saturday switched to chicken only and everything normal and sores caused by scratching healing.

On reflection, quite a dramatic few weeks for DC’s digestive tract. Cat is really well and content now.

I know chicken only insufficient.

My thinking now is to reintroduce a small amount of the Science Plan mainly for the additional nutrients. And continue if her system tolerates with a mix of chicken and Science Plan.

Other solutions or experiences welcome.

I've got 4 cats and experienced the same thing from manufactured food.
I now feed them white fish mixed with tuna twice a day ( I cook it in the microwave then freeze it in portions) and surprisingly it hasn't worked out too much more expensive. I also leave out dry food ( royal canin) that they graze on to get their other nutrients that they can't get from the fish mixture.
It's a ballache cooking all that fish, but it's better than having to clean up the sick and diarrhoea! I

I hope you find a routine that works for your cat. Manufactured cat food is the pits.

Good ideas. Thank you @weleasewoderick23. Shall purchase ‘baby weaning’ Tupperware. Microwaving and freezing seems straightforward.

I gave DC a small portion of the Science Plan wet food. In wait and see mode now.

What is significant is the absence of scratching. DC must have had such awful itchy irritation in her ear canal. I have the same when I have hay fever. If this clears up, no amount of food preparation will be a chore.

How about raw? Loads of brands or you can make your own

Mine are both in untamed wet food and appleaws (not affected batches) biscuits.

The untamed is real human grade chicken or fish, they do both gravy and jelly, boy loves both, girl only likes fish in jelly ones.

No upset tums or stinky poos with either. Girl was a bit stinky on previous biscuits - purizon but since switching the stink has gone

Oh yes my boys skin allergy has cleared up since switching to untamed as well
