Pre vet nerves

Hi, can anybody please recommend an effective over the counter sedative for my 18mth old male to be given before a very visit?

He was booked in tonight for his booster but I've had to ring & reschedule with 10 minutes notice as he is point blank refusing to be put in his cat carrier, we've tried 5 times & every time he's breaking free...drawn blood on dad's arm & bit me! It's stressed him out a lot as he's covered me In hair & has hidden in a corner for the last hour.

He's always been a wriggler & doesn't like being picked up but for the sake of mine & his nerves I need something to put him at ease....

Ask the vet for something - otherwise try pet remedy or deli way and BB leave the basket out for a while with treats in to desensitise. Him to it.

Feliway - sorry autocorrect!

Ring the vet, explain the situation and ask for Gabapentine. It’s a sedative for cats. We give it to our boy 2 hours before his vet visit otherwise he gets so scared that he pees and poos himself Sad

Works a treat. He gets relaxed and floppy and out of it. He’s done and dusted before he knows where he is.

And random BB

I put mine in the shower cubicle and scoop her in using the mesh door to push her bum in. She’s a bugger to box & I had a Bengal for 10 years so it’s not like I can’t box a cat.

Try spraying feliway in the carrier and on a blanket to drape over it. Drop cat into the carrier bum first.

Bring the carrier into the main living area a few days beforehand too

Thanks for all the suggestions...we did try back end first & wrapping him in a towel, you'd have thought I was trying to get a sabre tooth tiger in there!!

Anyways, going to call the vet & see if they can prescribe something. Fingers crossed..
