Any vets around? Hyperthyroid cat…

… my 15 year old has Thyronorm twice a day. Been stable for some time and levels were only checked a few weeks ago. She’s been sick today (unusual for her), not eating and generally not herself. I’ll take her to the vet tomorrow but just wondered if I should still give her the Thyronorm tonight or if it’s better to leave it. Any experts out there or anyone with similar experience please?

Leave off the thyronorm there are several side effects that can present as vomiting, anorexia and lethargy.

Can you tell me the outcome please. My cat is in same situation? Thanks

I missed a dose of the Thyronorm and took her to the vet the next day to get her levels checked. There was nothing untoward and she wasn’t sick anymore, and was soon back to her usual self. I’m pleased I got her checked out though, although I do worry way too much about her and maybe over reacted. They are such a bloody worry but I always think it’s worth a visit to the vet to put your mind at ease. I hope he/she is ok dingit.

Thanks so much for the reply. Glad yours is on the mend.

We took her to the vets yesterday who could find nothing obvious wrong. I gave her her thyroid meds as she was getting anxious. She's still not eating and hiding

It could just be something she’s eaten, or even something as simple as the Christmas/New Year disruption. I hope she soon settles and improves. My girl has been generally stable since she was diagnosed and has been on Thyronorm but I dread the day the inevitable will happen. Got my fingers crossed for you dingit x
