12 year old cat with thyroidism

Hi everyone, I may be adopting a 12 year old moggie from a rescue who is having her thyroid removed. Can anyone tell me what it is like for an older cat with this health issue?

Forgot to mention I have been a cat mummy before with elderly and younger cats but am worried about the responsibility of taking on one with obvious ill health even though the (reputable) charity states that she is healthy IYSWIM
