What shall I get my Ragdoll for her 1st birthday and Christmas?

Her birthday and Christmas are only a day apart. I was thinking of a cat tree but Ragdolls are meant to not like climbing very much.

A cat tree is a good call. My Persians adore theirs.

TheSpottedZebra · 09/11/2021 20:02

A box!
Always a box.

DivingBoardInGuernsey · 09/11/2021 23:30

Based on our experience, a very expensive armchair giant scratching post Grin

DuckPancake · 10/11/2021 10:34

Yes a box 😂👌🏻 or a cosy hideaway bed - www.pawsomecouture.com/collections/for-your-cat/beds this site has some lovely things

TroysMammy · 12/11/2021 10:17

Da Bird. Haribo goes mad for it and when he wants to play he will sit by the sideboard waiting for it. He was most put out yesterday as "Daddy" came home and went straight upstairs instead of getting toy out.

PlinkPlankPlunk · 12/11/2021 10:28

I get mine a new bowl and a posh tin of food every year (like a special “turkey dinner” sort of thing); that way they can enjoy the festivities with us and we have spare bowls for emergencies.

We do also give them boxes, but that is more of an advent thing, as all the internet shopping arrives. They’re partial to a roll of sellotape as well.

A catnip plant *ebay
Cardboard scratcher, not the small ones, but lounge ones like 3 fat cats, or perfusion. Well loved with our two and lasted a couple of years.
Velvet cat bed, Next, made, Aldi,

I got mine an electric heated cat-mat. She literally loves it- hardly ever gets off the thing.

It's made me jealous so I've had to request a heated throw for my birthday.

We have this cattree in the sitting room, we've got two big British who aren't big climbers. It's for bigger cats, it's not too tall, but the post is tall enough for a nice long stretch, all parts are reorderable from their website, we've just replaced the pole after 3yrs and bought a spare pillow. It comes in lots of colours, grey, black etc. A big hit here.

helpfulperson · 12/11/2021 19:30

I'm impressed that you are restraining yourselves to birthday and Christmas instead of every time you see something nice like me.

Mrsfussypants1 · 12/11/2021 19:34

Agree with @TroysMammy da bird, or the smaller purrpella (by da bird) are THE best toy we've ever bought out two, yeeow banana is a close second.

Trinacham · 12/11/2021 19:35

My 2 Ragdolls disagree that Ragdolls don't like cat trees - they are both curled up asleep on different levels as I type. Get her a tree!

Trinacham · 12/11/2021 19:37

this is the one my Ragdolls have and they love it www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/cats/scratching_posts/large/large_cat_trees_height_180_cm/492960?origin=hopps&q=cat%20tree&i=8&ro=1

CoastalWave · 12/11/2021 19:48

My two LOVE their cat tree. It's from Cat tree king. Expensive but worth every single penny.

On the other extreme, B&M are doing cat laser pens that have a xmas theme on the light!!! £3 well spent!

What shall I get my Ragdoll for her 1st birthday and Christmas?

Mine have one but I think they find it too hot. No doubt they will claim the grated throw I've also requested for Christmas!
TroysMammy · 13/11/2021 09:31

@Toddlerteaplease I bought a heated throw recently and Haribo is totally freaked out by it. There is hope it could be just for you.

Toddlerteaplease · 13/11/2021 09:35

Hmm. I'm not convinced Snorg adores fleece! She loves my normal throw!

Lots of lovely cat presents and profits help the rescue 🥰

I got my girls and my sisters pair some catnip cushions last Christmas and they still absolutely love them. My youngest cat still sleeps with it in her paws!

FliesAreMad · 13/11/2021 10:11

A dog, my Ragdoll loves his, dog is pretty much a giant chew toy.

Or big sturdy cat tree.

Scrunchy toy that sounds like it’s got alfoil in it, mine is obsessed with his.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 13/11/2021 10:17

Cat trees that have a couple of platforms might be better. Two short hops to the top rather than one big jump.

She'll love the box it comes in 😁

Gingerkittykat · 13/11/2021 10:25

This bed has always gone down a treat with my cats and you can throw it away when it gets dirty or worn.

My raggie definitely doesn't climb as much as my moggies have but she still likes sleeping up high sometimes.

TroysMammy · 13/11/2021 10:31

Has anyone bought the automatic laser toy? I get bored using a laser pen. Before I spend the money will my cat get bored with that too?

YesItsMeIDontCare · 13/11/2021 11:08

Leroy had one that he got bored of Troy. We got about 6months fun out of it though.

TroysMammy · 13/11/2021 13:28

@YesItsMeIDontCare thanks. I might consider it. He is very much a "this is the best toy ever" type of cat until something new turns up. It's Da Bird at the moment. He had an obsession with the furry toy worms which I found a for £1 in Tiger. He liked them attached to wool and I had to go up and down stairs dragging it around for him. He detested the flapping fish so I've taken the mechanism out and stuffed it with cat nip. That gets a mauling from time to time.

He's the same with cardboard boxes. We've put a few in the attic and bring one out every so often so when he gets bored it goes back until the next time. He thinks it's something new so it will be flavour of the month.

He has a "toy box" which he roots around in every so often. He's no good at putting his toys away though Grin
