Anyone's got had a torn claw?

If your cat, has had a torn claw what was the outcome? Did it heal itself? How long did healing take?

I noticed blood on pavement, along out drive and in house on Friday. One of our cats is a hunter and we suspected he's sadly brought a victim back home overnight. Both cats seemed ok on Friday, but on Saturday Ollie was quiet for about three hours yesterday, then perked up. I've come in from work today to see a red mark on Ollie's paw and on further inspection, feels like his claw is missing. He's perky, eating, and was very playful first thing. However, I've given him a dose of Loxicom, in case he's in pain, which I have left from a previous treatment.

My cat had a couple of paws with torn claws when he was quite young. The vet said it sometimes happens when cats are hit by cars Sad but I was pretty sure he hadn't been on the road (only back gardens) so it could have been done falling off a wall or something and scrabbling not to fall. He recovered fine (I can't remember how long it took) with antibiotics, cleaning the paws, and painkillers. I think you should take yours to the vet in case of infection.

Had two scenarios with our two. One had a torn claw and it was like it never happened within a day or so. She cleaned it up herself and that was that, and it soon grew back.
The other did it too, bit of a bigger injury though I suppose. Her foot swelled to twice it’s size - it got infected. She needed medicine but it did quickly sort itself out with a bit of help.
So perhaps just see what happens over the next day or two - you will soon know what to do.

Thanks for your replies. Given I suspect this happened early hours Friday morning, I'll keep an eye on him overnight. He was tearing around the house this morning (not unusual) so although I appreciate it might be painful, he's very perky. Luckily I have the Loxicom which I know he's fine with if it's getting him down before a vet's appointment.

Cheddar bled all over my bed! I managed to stop the bleeding. The claw didn't seem badly damaged and it wasn't bothering her at all. So I left it. It fell out completely a couple of weeks later when I was clipping her nails. (Yes she allows this)
