Overwhelmed choosing pet insurance

The reviews are not good, don't even know if they're real!

Have you had to claim on your insurance? How was your experience? Would you suggest that insurer to someone else?

Thank you!

I took out a policy by Bought by many in august and two weeks ago made a claim for £489

I Submitted the claim through the website, invoice and dogs history.

They Emailed next day to approved it and money in my bank within 3 days

Excellent service i thought

I'm also with made by many, and chose it as it was cheap (!) but appeared to be fully comprehensive and provide great cover. I have a wee moggy. I just went for level of cover which seemed to include everything possible - it's about £5 a month.

bought by many, not made by many, sorry.

I made the mistake of not taking out lifetime cover. Mine only covers new conditions for 12 months, so look carefully into that.

It's with Direct Line though and I have claimed for 3 conditions over the years and they have always been very helpful and there's been no problem claiming.

I'm with direct line for my 4 year old dog. Not made a claim yet but I liked the 24/7 access to a vet via video or live chat.

I had insurance with Animal Friends. They paid out a claim just shy of £3k within a couple of days. And they paid for ongoing physio for my old pup.

Also with Bought by Many. Claim done online and cheaper than petplan

Another vote for Animal Friends. They are quite reasonably priced and paid out when I needed it.

Petplan have always paid out without any issues for us. A lot of vets will claim directly from them which saves you waiting to get your money back. Downside is they are expensive but I've had issues in the past taking out cheaper insurance then they don't pay out.
Definitely get lifetime cover!
