New kittens, who should we pick?

Ok we as a family are looking for 2 kittens to join our family, we have the option of 2 sets.
First pair are tabby and ginger, both girls and belong to a women, she isn't a rescue, they are cheaper but still expensive I would say in general, they are not pedigree etc they come flead and wormed.
Second set are also girls and both are all black, they are from a rescue and they are dearer but they will be vaccinated, chipped and neutered.
Ok so I am leaning towards the rescue kittens as black cats get overlooked and the money we pay for them will go back to the charity. And the first pair could of been bred for money, and she doesn't seem too bothered about our home set up, think she just wants to make money etc.
But on the flip side we are a good home for these little ones and if she isn't vetting people what happens if they go to people that don't treat them right, the rescue place do check etc.
I'm so confused, help me decide what the best thing to do is, before I end up with 4 cats and my other half leaves me Confused

I'd have the tabby and ginger but please ignore me Grin

hartof · 29/10/2021 23:50

The black ones and I'd call them Binx and Salem.

Lorddenning1 · 29/10/2021 23:52

@hartof aren't they boy names? They are little girls and I am stuck of what to name them, normally we let the children decide.
I got to name the dogs, we have a dog called Millie and sadly we lost our other dog in may and she was called Cassie.

@AmberOwl don't do this to me

hartof · 29/10/2021 23:54

Hmm they probably are boy names. I've only had boy cats though so I'm used to only thinking about them. I always want to get another black cat and call him binx

Lorddenning1 · 30/10/2021 00:02

@hartof I have only had boy cats before too but had girl dogs, so this is a new one for me.

Yeah, you're still up 4 kittens. And there will be just the right sized space on one side of the bed for them...

Could try Pumpkin and Elvira as names? Lilith? (Mor)ticia?

TheSilveryPussycat · 30/10/2021 00:09

Our dear departed black cat arrived as a kitten from a farm, already christened Midnight. Any good - or too obvious? Can't think of a matching name atm though

Lorddenning1 · 30/10/2021 00:09

Who says they get to sleep in my bed, jokes my other half said the dog we not allowed on the couch when we first moved into our new house, he works nights and she sleeps on his pillow at the side of me, but shhhhh

Definitely the black ones
I have a black cat who is the most loving little furry weirdo ever

NotMyCat · 30/10/2021 00:29

Oh I should say bin any black cushions/blankets etc. My cat gets sat on quite often and is most offended but he will insist on sleeping on a black fluffy blanket then snapping one eye open as you sit down

TheSilveryPussycat · 30/10/2021 00:55

You will probably trip over them quite a lot. All part of the fun!

silentpool · 30/10/2021 03:56

My black cat is a gorgeous cuddly boy!

Definitely the black ones!

We have three voids and they're the best, though I do lose them quite often as they're very good at camouflage Grin

AppleButter · 02/11/2021 18:59

Read Gobbolino the Witches cat, tissues to hand, and go and get the black ones. There are too many suffering cats in this world for people to be producing more. The shelter will have checked the kittens, and if they have any problems they will probably try and help you. And they will end up with all the sickly/weak/abandoned cats that were the product of increased demand during the pandemic.

We got the black kittens, meet Bella and Rosie Grin

Definitely the black rescues. Don't give money to backstreet breeders.

Besides house panthers are the best, & as you say, they unfairly get left behind. We've had several over the years

DebbieHarrysCheekbones · 02/11/2021 19:27

Oh they are both beautiful cats
I love black cats. Obviously I have one. Mind you I’ve got tabbies too so i’d have been no use to you decidingGrin
I also have a Bella
Lovely names and enjoy them

DebbieHarrysCheekbones · 02/11/2021 19:28

My mum told me people overlook them because they can’t take decent photos or selfies with them. What the actual

Black cats are without exception all absolutely magical and fabulous

Yes, I heard this too - and that tabby cats are the best because their coats are Instagrammable Angry

Lorddenning1 · 02/11/2021 19:40

We have never had all black cats before, we got them on Halloween so they are still settling in, so Bella is the bigger of the two, she is chilled out and loves to cuddle, she comes over to me and rubs her nose on my nose, so sweet and Rosie the ratbag as we have nicknamed her is a lot smaller, lively and more adventurous, she likes to bite and then lick you straight after. They like to play a game of one of them goes into the hooded cat litter tray and the other tries to paw the other one through the gap, it's fun to watch them.

Warmduscher · 02/11/2021 19:49

They sound delightful, OP.

How is the dog taking to them?

Lorddenning1 · 02/11/2021 19:54

She is obsessed with watching them, chases them when they dart off but we tell her to back off a little, she is just getting excited. She likes to get involved with playing with the cat toys and also enjoys cat treats as we can't leave her out, they are separated at night and are not letting them be alone together, she can play with them when they are older and bigger.
