Is my kitten okay?

Kitten is 8 months now (gosh that's gone fast) she's been playing outside for a couple of months now, it's very cat friendly where we live in and one of the neighbours has a much older cat and the two of them go around together (like grandparent and grandchild 🥲). Kitten will pop back in every hour or so to say hi, have a cuddle or some food and then head out again and is in for the night. The last few days our kitten has been staying at home much more, she's always been wonderfully affectionate but seems to be even more affectionate than ever and staying close way more than she used to, which is lovely but I'm a bit concerned. It has been a bit cold and wet where we are but that's never bothered her before however the last few days she's very rarely bothered to go out. I've not seen the cat she hangs out with lately (the cat was much older than she is, I'm sure the owner said the cat was about 16) so I wonder if perhaps it's not coming outside anymore. She's still eating fine and toileting fine so I guess that's a good sign, I'm not sure the vet will take me seriously if I say "is she okay-she's being even sweeter than usual". Could she be missing the other cat perhaps?

It’s nippy now! Older cat will definitely want home comforts now. I assume you’ve had your kitten spayed?!

NeverDropYourMoonCup · 23/10/2021 17:59

She hasn't put on a bit of weight over the last week or two, has she?

kikipie · 23/10/2021 18:08

Yes, is she spayed?

Thissucksmonkeynuts · 23/10/2021 18:19

If she hasn't been spayed, she'll come home and sleep alot for 11 weeks, and then you will more kittens!

PearDropKid · 23/10/2021 18:36

Well the obvious answer is she's pregnant but if she's spayed then it's just her being a cat.

househuntinginthesouth · 23/10/2021 19:24

Yes. She's not pregnant. Could she just be calming down a bit as she's getting older then (even though she's still a baby)?

Yes. But also the weather thing.

Assuming she's not pregnant, the weather is awful so she's likely just wanting to stay home in the warm and dry.
