New kitten comes home today!!! So excited. What are everyone's tips to make the kitten feel at home.

We couldn't possibly advise you without first seeing a photo of the kitten.

That said, a nice quiet warm place to sleep and lots of toys.

Motorina · 21/10/2021 18:58

I totally agree we need photos.

I'd suggest keeping them in a smallish room initially. If you let them have access to the whole house they'll be overwhelmed by it, and you'll end up with a kitten behind the dishwasher. Once they're feeling safe in that one room then let them explore gradually.

Oh my goodness she is wee! Has she got a name? She looks like a Lilith or a Morticia to me. 🐈‍⬛

DedalusBloom · 21/10/2021 19:25

She also looks like she's already telling you what's what.

dundermifflinpapersalesman1 · 21/10/2021 19:34

We called her Luna. Grin

How old is she? She's really young looking...

AwkwardPaws27 · 21/10/2021 19:39

She does look very young. How old is she?

Our cat is called Luna, she is 10 next week.

First things first:
Pet insurance
Vaccinations
Make a note of when her last flea and worm treatment was so you can give the next ones on time
Use the same food or change it very slowly to avoid an upset stomach

I'd suggest limiting her to one room for the first few days at least - small kittens have small bladders, & it will help minimise accidents if she is near the litter tray. Plus then you are less likely to end up with a tiny kitten behind the fridge / under the bath etc!

A soft blanket and cuddly toy to sleep with, she'll be used to sleeping with her siblings.

Fluffycloudland77 · 21/10/2021 19:47

Make sure her litters non clumping.

AlfonsoTheDinosaur · 21/10/2021 19:53

Oh, she is adorable! She'll be running the household in no time.

dundermifflinpapersalesman1 · 21/10/2021 19:54

So she is apparently 9 weeks old. Phoning up the vets tomorrow to get her booked in for a check etc.

'Apparently'? How can you not know how old she is? Confused

SalsaLove · 21/10/2021 20:09

Talk to her, hold her, no loud voices, understand she will be annoying, be gentle she’s a baby. Get her used to a comb and a toothbrush.

dundermifflinpapersalesman1 · 21/10/2021 20:22

@Pemmican the breeders said she was born on the 19th of august. I said apparently because a lot of people had said she looked really young.

JudyGemstone · 21/10/2021 20:25

Cute ☺️

What breed is she then?

MesChiensSontBeaux · 21/10/2021 20:25

Did you not get photos of her from birth to know that was definitely her birthdate. She looks younger, I’d be concerned.

Pemmican · 21/10/2021 20:39

Sounds like you don't really trust these 'breeders'. I'm sure you did plenty of research before you handed over your cash though.

YourTruthorMine · 21/10/2021 20:40

Cute. She looks just like my new kitten who's a couple of weeks older. She terrorises the dog, has put grumpy old cat firmly in his place and has already worked out to open the cat flap

DoctorTwo · 21/10/2021 21:01

Congratulations on your beautiful new feline overlady. She looks like she's going to be a handful.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 22/10/2021 01:17

The little open mouth. 😍😍😍😍. She looks like she's having a rant. Grin

Youngatheart00 · 22/10/2021 01:18

She is absolutely beautiful!! Treasure her!!! 💞

AppleButter · 22/10/2021 02:24

Toothbrush training is hard but invaluable later on.
