Hi, we have a 5 months old kitten, and I was grooming him and this creature surfaced.

He is a house cat and has never been out anywhere. I’m worried it’s a flea? But where would it come from? I used the flea treatment a few weeks ago. This is the second time I’ve seen something like this in his fur.

Sorry pic is blurry

Looks like a flea to me! You need to treat your house

BrainBleachNeeded · 20/10/2021 18:51

Fucks sake. Thanks

How long ago were they flea treated?
Was it alive and moving?

Flufferty · 20/10/2021 19:13

Definitely a flea

paisley256 · 20/10/2021 19:18

It's definitely a flea. Indorex spray for the house is excellent.

I flea treated about 3 weeks ago. It was definitely alive and moving because I pinched it in some tissue and killed it like a nit.

We have a shit extension which is more like a building site and needs to be renovated. I’m wondering if he’s picked them up from there? I’ve checked his body and I can’t see any eggs or any more fleas? I’ve given a proper look through like you do with kid’s hair.

Eggs fall off; they don't stay on the cat like lice eggs would. It could just be a lone one that's been brought in on clothing.

Fluffycloudland77 · 20/10/2021 20:42

It doesn’t stop them getting fleas it stops the fleas living after biting them. If you get a can of advocate you can flea treat for eggs for a whole year.

BrainBleachNeeded · 20/10/2021 22:19

A can of indorex or advocate? Im using advocate for flea treatment on him anyway, but maybe i haven’t been applying it properly? He’s due his next dose in a week or more.

I’ve ordered indorex and flea comb from Amazon. Indorex will be here on Friday. Do I need to leave the house and close doors? Can we sleep on mattresses the night after they’re treated?

Yes it’ll be fine you just need to cover fish tanks and not gas the cat.

BrainBleachNeeded · 20/10/2021 22:30

Okay good. We haven’t had any bites yet, so hope I’ve caught them quick. We’re keeping our bedroom doors shut tonight. Upstairs is carpeted but downstairs isn’t. Poor baby. I think he knows something is wrong. Can hear him playing on his scratch post :(
