Hello 👋
What would be the best way of finding a decent local cat breeder?
Gumtree and preloved seem to be a very popular way to advertise kittens, would this be the best way to go??
Thanks

Gumtree is people not neutering their cats, letting them breed then flogging kittens for money. In short, no, it’s not good.

If you want a pedigree, find the society for the breed you want and look for recommended breeders on their website. Responsible breeders have very clear ethics which they should tell you about and they should vet you. Be prepared to sign something to say you won’t let the cat outdoors to free roam.

If you want a moggy, find your local rescue. They will have lots of lovely cats looking for home. Summer is kitten season so it’s coming to an end now but they might still have some.

Thanks for your reply.
Ah I see gumtree a no no then.
Would have preferred to adopt a cat of any breed but haven't had any luck with the local rescues I've tried, they don't seem keen to rehome to homes with school age children.
I'll have a look on some of the different breeds websites.

Haven’t you posted this before?
Rescues will rehome to homes with children. We adopted two kittens when youngest child was 5.
