Stray Little Black Cat

Last week a gorgeous little black cat strayed in to me and I really need to find him a good home. He is the loveliest little thing. Really friendly, chatty and affectionate. I can't keep him, as I'm already trying to find homes for 3 other strays. I've contacted rescues who can't/won't help, just offered to post his details on their Facebook pages. I've asked friends, contacts, vets, put posters up, but no luck so far.

I took him to the vet today for vaccinations, etc, and he said he's a great little cat, probably 9 months old, in very good condition and has difinitely had a home. He checked him for a microchip, but he doesn't have one. FYI, the vet said that dogs have now started to be dumped and left to stray, in the same way as cats have always been, due people arseholes abandoning them, following the lockdowns.

I am so stressed about all the stray cats coming to me, and wondered if anyone has any suggestions to find him a forever family. To narrow it down, I live in Mid-West Ireland. There are lovely ladies in the village who feed and take care of the strays, and I do my bit, but finding homes for the cats is almost impossible. Thanks!

& here he is

Catsaid allow people to put up ads on their website for cats that they are seeking to re-home. You might have some luck with them.

You must have a sign above your house in cat language saying "Strays welcome here".

omg I wish I was living nearby

Surely someone would drive a long way to adopt this lovely cat? Put it on Twitter?

Btw, i just have to say "that's a great cat right there" to see if anyone gets the reference. 😂

Want2beme · 18/10/2021 22:47

Thanks TheLongRider . I'll try them. You never know!

The ref is this

I have no idea who he is, if he just reviews every cat he meets in a store or what, but it's become a meme of sorts, people try to be the first to leave that comment on cat videos.

DaisyNGO ah, that's cute. He is a great cat. I've just put him to bed in an outbuilding because he's so noisy, he disrupts the other cats who sleep in the kitchenGrin

TheLongRider, I'll probably keep 1 of the 3 other cats and I think I've got a home for the other 2 sisters, but I won't believe that til it actuallt happensWink

Aww, he seems too little to sleep on his own....

Want2beme · 19/10/2021 10:16

I know DaisyNGO, my heart is broken doing it. I can feel myself becoming attached, but I have to "harden" my heart, as I don't want the responsibility of a very young cat😞. I've got 4 others to think about at the moment, plus all the other passing strays. 🤞I'll find a lovely home for him.

Good news. The local rescue called me to say they'll take him in - yaySmile. It won't be for a few weeks yet, until he's had his booster, been neutered, which I'll take care of, and some of their poorly cats in the cattery will be better by then. He's a real poppet, so I think he'll get a home quickly. I've just got to keep him safe til then😟

What do you mean by "strayed in to me"?

SoupDragon · 19/10/2021 15:38

I had a cat that was much loved but probably could have been mistaken for a stray as she wasn't healthy. She was chipped but the chip had failed at some point.

Want2beme · 19/10/2021 15:39

He turned up as a stray. Strayed in to me is a term used in this part of Ireland.

I've made it very public that he's with me. I've put up posters, checked him for a microchip and he doesn't have one. The vet saw him yesterday. He was full of worms and was treated for that. Vet has put up one of my found posters. The local rescue have put his details up on their Facebook page and I've informed one of their volunteers who lives near me.

You are a star for the care you have taken over him and your other visitors 🌟

Want2beme · 20/10/2021 10:09

Pudmyboy I wish the government would step in and take care of all of the neglected animals. Wouldn't that be grand🐱🐶
