Food bowls that control mess - somehow!

I've two cats and they both make a mess when they eat. I'm wondering if there is some kind of magical bowl which will help control it. If it helps my boy cat's habit of practically inhaling his food, that'd be a bonus.

And, I know! If there's no photo the cat didn't happen. Here's greedy boy and messy girl.

I have a silicone mat under the bowls so at least the mess doesn't go on the floor

Gorgeous cats.
I have three and put their bowls in a washing up bowl, so any mess goes in that.

I tried a plastic may but it didn't really contain the mess.

I'm imagining maybe a bowl that tips up, possibly with silicone on the bottom

I have Cotill bowls shaped like cats heads which are deep and stand on little non-slip legs. They don’t spill and it makes them eat more slowly and not bolt their food.

I use trays under the food bowls. It catches any stray food and easy to pick up to clean.

I use a tray underneath too.

This it what I use.
Just washed so still bit wet!

I have the food bowls attached on a bracket to the side of a kitchen cupboard - in our previous setup, half the mess around the cat food area was due to people and animals tripping over the bowls while walking past, or pushing the bowls over from hungry enthusiasm, and having them fixed does seem to help.

I have used the above bowls for years and years. Works really well.

I have a large silicon mat plus I line that with kitchen roll that can be easily be changed daily.

icedcoffees · 10/10/2021 17:28

You can use slow feeder bowls to help slow them down.

Sometimes my little beast takes mouthfuls of food out of the bowl and dumps them on the floor in front of it! He usually eats most of what he's taken out, but there's always a mess. The silicon mats help, but they're not big enough to contain all the mess he can make.

Thank you for your suggestions. They all look good. Might start with a tray because I have one and go from there.
