Im sat here writing this in floods of tears. My elderly cat is dying and I'm waiting for the vet to arrive to put her to sleep.

I know its the right thing to do as she is so poorly and has no quality of life but I'm devastated.

I’m sorry, it’s a terrible thing to go through.

summersolstice43 · 04/10/2021 15:38

Its really is, they bring so much joy but leave so much heartache when its their time.

Flowers I hope it was peaceful. You did the right thing by getting the vet. It's ok to be devastated, you had a long life together.

Sarah2384 · 04/10/2021 16:46

This is so sad. Rest in Peace little Kitty

SecretWitch · 04/10/2021 16:48

I’m sending you hugs. You have given your sweet girl such a gift, she is going to sleep with the person she loves most in the world beside her.💐

CatChant · 04/10/2021 17:13

I am so sorry. It is always heartbreaking to say goodbye to them. But a peaceful, pain-free passing with you beside her was the last gift you could give her. I am sure she knew how much you loved her.

Be kind to yourself over the coming days and weeks.

Thank you everyone, this means so much to me.

She passed peacefully in my daughters arms. Im glad it happened at home and she wasn't overly stressed.

Never in my life have I had to make such a difficult decision.

I am so sorry. Cats are a big part of the family and it is awful when they go. But it is good that she is not suffering and she had a wonderful life full of love x

summersolstice43 · 04/10/2021 18:46

The house feels so empty. Im so used to her running around the place and making a noise.

It will for a while, OP. I have two other cats but I miss my dainty little girl demanding someone accompany her to potter round the garden, or give her some food immediately now this minute because she'd had nothing for the last ten minutes and was quite literally starving to death. We always used to say she had no right to be so slender.

Time does heal. One day you'll be able to treasure your memories of her without crying.

summersolstice43 · 06/10/2021 10:00

@CatChant Thank you for your kind words. I find myself opening the door to let her have a wander around the garden and going to put her food down, its the things I did automatically for her and she was always by my side.

I've contacted the Blue Cross for bereavement support for myself and DD. A cat is not just a cat, they are part of the family, a very very huge part.

Flowers @summersolstice43
Let yourself grieve, you loved her and will miss her a million times a day but it will get better on time. O am glad you are organising support for yourself and your DD.

Pudmyboy · 06/10/2021 18:22

*in time. I
I have a fat thumb.

summersolstice43 · 06/10/2021 18:32

@Pudmyboy thank you. Today is the first day back at work then coming home to an empty house. It will take time, she was very special.

I bet your thumbs aren't fat 😀
