Hole in cats face

I noticed a cut/hole in my cats face last night. He is an outdoor cat so god knows what caused it in just wondering if anyone could advise if it will heal on its own, how I can help or if I should take him to the vets. I’ve attached some pictures.

First 2 are last night, last 1 was today.

Possibly a burst cat bite abscess, they can be really nasty.

Give the vets a call and see when you can go down, he needs seeing (possibly with a clean up and some antibiotics).

Poor thing - it does look like it might be infected, in that last photo.

Is he ok in himself - eating his food and being lively? Most animals that bite cats - including other cats - do often cause infections because their mouths are teeming with bacteria

Came to say abcess from cat bite also. They're quite common, especially in fighty or territorial cats.

Def call the vets.

Thanks everyone.

Yes he’s absolutely fine no change in himself and eating like there’s no tomorrow
