My cats refuse to move house!

We moved house nearly 2 months ago. We kept the cats in for 6 weeks, made them a little space of their own, set up a litter tray etc. We let them out gradually at first (just before meals so we could call them back in).

But they just refuse to come home now and are always going back to the old house. I've been back to fetch them multiple times. I have even left it a few days figuring if they can get there they can get back but no joy.

For context we have only moved 1/2 a mile away but it is across a fairly busy road which does worry me.

Any ideas what to do from here? Do we need to start again with keeping them in?

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

I would be so worried about the road. Cat proof the garden or Catio? I would definitely keep them in again though to see if it works this time.

I think you have to keep them in again and for even longer. Then only let them out hungry. We moved two doors down and had no problems)after keeping them in for weeks), it can work.

I’d cat proof, their going to die on that road and it might not be a quick death either.
